5 minutes after the end of Game 4
I would like to know...somebody please tell me....who in the world thought it would be a good idea to fill the Dodger bullpen with rookie relief pitchers who had already demonstrated their uselessness in the regular season? By what plea, using what statistical model, did they determine that a guy who pitched so poorly in the regular season...being demoted back to the minors even ... would all the sudden turn into a star pitcher just because the calendar changed from September to October? The world is suffering through a major economical upheaval now, with markets that have been tracked for over 100 years gaining and losing double digit percentages in just a couple weeks, yet somehow we're to be shocked and dismayed that a guy who could barely pitch in September proves himself unable to pitch in October? Trillions of dollars have been lost and most of the world is killing all their sheeps to make wool for towels to mop up spilled financial milk, and a guy who can't command a salary over $150,000/year is allowed to go into a game, into a game played and hosted by the most valuable name brand franchise in all of professional sports the entire world over, and throw just six pitches...SIX...giving up a two run homer and bringing down in disgrace and defeat a team who had all but locked the game up and just needed a couple more outs to tie the series. Now, instead of hope, there is not one shred of believable evidence existing that shows they can possibly come back and win three more games, two on the road, and rise from the ashes of last season. Not a prayer. Teams win and teams lose, but rarely have any know true defeat until tonight.
