Thomas: Happy Birthday, and to celebrate that special day I have a present for you: The tallest building in the world!
.
When it's finished, it will be over 700 meters tall. In western world talk, that is 2296.59 feet. Please note that a mile is 5280 feet, meaning that this building is over 1/3 of a mile tall. Note: The height of that building is the same distance above sea level as the bottom of the Virgin River Gorge. It will have 160 stories. The technical height of a building includes the usual boom or antenna on top, which can sometimes be 200 feet or more. That is being kept a secret, because when it comes to building buildings, pride and arrogance reign supreme as each builder tries to out-build the next guy.
It is being built in Dubai, in the United Arab Emirates, and is scheduled for completion this year.
Have a swell day.

Yum, Yum
Happy Birthday, Stefanie!!!!
Happy birthday, Stefanie. For your birthday, the present I have for you is a town. I give you: Smith Center, KS:
Smith Center is located at 39°46′43″N, 98°47′7″W.
According to the United States Census Bureau, the city has a total area of 1.2 square miles, all of it land.
Smith Center was considered the geographic center of the United States until the admission of Alaska and Hawaii into the union. Following the admission of those states, the geographic center fell in North Dakota.
If you look at an old town directory, if they had them, you'll find this to be the birth place, I believe, of Grandmother Whelchel. The name you seek is Johns.
Have a really nice day!

Good News!
I've just been offered and accepted a permanent position at the Victorville plant doing a combination of things I do now and that will move from other people as they move into other things.
We can now burn the boxes and I can remove my death watch countdown timer!
Hurray for me!

Prayers requested....
Lauren just called with to update me on her visit to the dermatologist. She has a suspicious looking mole. He agreed that it meets 4 of the 5 warning signs of melanoma. She had a biopsy done and now we await the results. Please remember her in your prayers and pray for good results.

Produce Progress
Our nice little garden is starting to produce some yummy veggies. The radish was delicious. It was little but we cut it in two and shared it.
We also have a few pea pods growing. We were nervous that our peas were going to die before having some peas but they grew their little hearts out! We are so excited that in a few weeks we will be able to enjoy our yummy veggies!

The Big Grage Sale
On July 12, 2008 my family and I are going to have a big garage sale. We are trying to earn money for the trip to Kansas. We are going to use the money for all the gas because the prices are so high. So we are planned to have a garage sale. We are going to separate the stuff into groups, like Brad's stuff will go some where and he will stand or sit be his stuff, and it will be with the same with the rest of us. We are planning and hoping that we are going to earn a lot of money and have a lot of people come and buy stuff! I can't wait until that day comes. It is going to last until 7:00 - 10:00 am. Do any of you guys do garage sales?

Run for the Fallen
I don't need a reason to run, I run because I can and because of what it does for my health. If I needed a reason to run, this might do it.

"I'm happy about a picnic"
Tonight we decided, since it wasn't too humid and because Paisley asked, to have dinner in the gazebo. It was a lot of fun. We grilled hamburgers, sautéed asparagus and had some yummy pasta salad. We loved eating outside and can't wait to do it again as often as possible!
On another note our garden is flourishing beautifully! We decided to get some corn going in the back and finally put in the third row the other day. I'm so happy with how huge our squash are. Hopefully soon we'll be eating some of our own home grown produce.
These are a couple of our cute tomatoes. A couple of the plants had a few green tomatoes on them. It's so exciting!!!

No one is going to beat me this time!
Cute Cookies!
I saw these cookies this morning on one of my friends blogs. I thought they were so cute and had to make them today!! I have to admit for as cute as they are they don't taste as good as I hoped. Oh well though. We still passed them around to some of our friends. Paisley sure thinks they tastes good and that's the most important thing!
Car Problems
As I mentioned in my email, James left Monday for Provo. His interview went really well and he should hear something by Friday. However, upon exiting NuSkin, he found his car (lewis's former car) was dead. Oh no!!! He ended up getting a ride to Joyce's house and a running friend of mine (who is also a BYU professor and leaves on his misison with his wife to Peru this month) helped him get to the car and then to his nephew's car repair place today. About $500 later (new battery and starter motor) he is off and running again. He is learning quickly about trials and faith and the blessings of sometimes seen and unseen angels. Wait.....I think he learned that in Taiwan. Ok so its a refresher course. LOL. The Lord is merciful and the heavens have been opened towards our family of late. I can't tell you what a tremendous blessing it is to have family and friends who act in behalf of the Lord to bring about blessings that would not be realized without the assistance of His earthly helpers. My heart is full.

Jason's Birthday Surprises
We had lots of fun at lunch time! This is Paisley coloring daddy a birthday picture on her new easel!
Then we had yummy sandwiches for lunch. They were delicious!
Then a balloon and candy birthday bouquet surprised Jason at the front door. Paisley was especially excited for the basket of candy holding the balloons. Then Jason opened his presents. First he opened (really paisley opened it) a wireless radio transmitter (I'm not totally sure about this, but apparently it is really cool. yes I did buy it for him not knowing what it was, but I knew he wanted it.)
Then he opened an electricity lab that can do over 75 experiments. I knew my little electrical engineer would love playing with some voltage! We will have to do an update once he has done some of the experiments.
Here is the shot of all his birthday presents.
After he got home from work he had a couple cards to open. Thanks to everyone for the calls, the blog posts and the cards! Hopefully there is some fun left to be had, and hopefully it involved cakes!! We'll be sure and take more pictures of the rest of the evening!
