ByeBye Fence

We have been having crazy wind storms for the past few days. Last night was the peak and part of our back fence decided it was easier to lay on the ground than to fight the wind. Our neighbor came over to ask us if we were ready to replace it because he has a dog and as of right now he can't let the dog out because it would be able to run away. Too bad this wasn't on the list of projects for last week. Jason is trying to patch up the fence as best he can, but we will hopefully get it replaced this week.

Do you know what type of new fence you want? Does that mean your neighbor doesn't have a fence; he uses yours?

Yup we share a fence, which is nice because we will share the expense. We will get another wood privacy fence. He wanted to get a chain link fence but Paisley is scared of his dog, so she wouldn't be able to go in the backyard, and that's not ok. So he agreed to the privacy fence. He is very nice about the whole situation.

I'm glad he is being nice about it. You didn't personally blow the thing down. Hope the bids come in reasonable so that the job can be done. I'm glad you said no to the chain link option.

Yep, a shared fence is exactly that, shared! Our neighbors behind us agreed to pay for half of our new fence (shared) but we never got penny one. Make sure you get it in writing or have both of you put on the bill from whoever you contract to have do it. Otherwise you can get stuck. I hope it all works out.

why do you have to share? can't you each just get your own?

I'm glad we are sharing because then we get to split the cost. He doesn't mind keeping the privacy fence. We have had one guy come look at it today and another person is supposed to show up later. They all know I am having multiple bids so hopefully we can get the best deal!

It is great that you can share the fence. It always makes me sad when I see two fences right against each other. Plus the cost is much cheaper. Way to be neighborly!
